“For selective weed control on roadsides, Esplanade and Method are a good foundation for providing preemergent activity.”
Aquatics & Vegetation Management, Winfield United
As a Senior Sales Representative at Winfield United, Chris Smith primarily works with industrial herbicide applicators working for county roadsides departments, drainage districts, irrigation canal companies, utility rights of way, and electric co-ops. Chris’ expertise is focused on herbicide use around surface water, public reservoirs, drinking reservoirs and private lakes.
Many of Chris’ customers have historically only used postemergence products to treat broadleaf weeds. According to Chris, these are good at controlling “the first crop of weeds.” He goes on to explain, “But here in Texas, with our warm weather and frequent rainfall, we usually have multiple crops of weeds that come about. Using Method with Esplanade not only takes out the parent plants, but it also helps reduce the seed bank that's there as well.”
Chris suggests adopting a fall-based selective weed program featuring Esplanade and Method. His reasoning? “(It) can make a customer’s life a whole lot easier and more cost effective. It helps reduce mowings and applicator risks while delivering more consistent results.”
