Use & Control

Weeds and Brush Controlled

Annual broomweed, marestail, cocklebur, thistle complex, blackberry, dewberry, henbit, marshelder, sericea lespedeza, yucca and over 100 more species.

NOTE: For use on grass pastures and rangeland only. Legumes such as alfalfa and clover are highly sensitive to Cimarron PLUS and if sprayed may become stunted and/or die. C-Plus does offer excellent recrop or rotations to legumes. Refer to the product label for important crop rotation information. Always follow label instructions before applying to fescue or timothy.

Always read and follow label instructions. See the product label for a full list of weeds controlled. Do not use in California and the following counties of Colorado; Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Rio Grande and Sasquache.

FAQ

What is Cimarron Plus?

Cimarron® Plus is a preemergence and postemergence herbicide that delivers long-term residual control to protect pastures and rangeland grasses from broadleaf weeds and brush.

What are the active ingredients in Cimarron Plus herbicide?

Cimarron Plus herbicide contains two active ingredients: metsulfuron methyl and chlorsulfuron (Group 2 herbicides).

Where can Cimarron Plus be applied?

Cimarron Plus herbicide is registered for use on land primarily dedicated to grazing or harvesting of grass forage in rangeland, pastures, grass hay fields, and grasses in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). It may also be used on selected uncultivated areas (fence rows, farmyards, and rights-of-way) directly adjacent to, or which transect or pass through, treated pastures, rangeland, or CRP acres. Check with your state extension or Department of Agriculture before using to ensure Cimarron Plus is registered in your state.

How is Cimarron Plus applied?

Cimarron Plus herbicide is a dry-flowable granule that is mixed in water and applied as a uniform broadcast spray. It can be tank-mixed with other pasture herbicides and applied by ground or aerial equipment, or as a spot treatment to target annual and perennial weeds. Cimarron Plus can also be preslurried in water and added to liquid nitrogen carrier solutions as a weed and feed treatment.

How does Cimarron Plus work?

Cimarron Plus herbicide is absorbed through the foliage and roots of broadleaf weeds, rapidly inhibiting their growth. Leaves of susceptible plants appear pale, yellow, or yellow-white from 1 to 3 weeks after application, and the growing point subsequently dies. The final effects on annual weeds are evident about 4 to 6 weeks after application. The ultimate effects on perennial weeds and woody plants occur in the growing seasons following application.

Is water required to activate Cimarron Plus?

For preemergence weed control, one to two inches of rainfall or sprinkler irrigation (enough to wet the top 2-3 inches of soil) is needed to move Cimarron Plus herbicide into the weed root zone before the next flush of weeds emerge. Without sufficient rainfall or sprinkler irrigation, weeds that germinate after treatment will not be controlled. The amount of moisture required for sufficient activation increases with crop or weed residue and in finer textured soils.

What species of broadleaf weeds and brush does Cimarron Plus control?

Cimarron Plus herbicide controls and/or suppresses a broad spectrum of broadleaf weeds and brush species, including annual broomweed, marestail, cocklebur, thistle complex, Bahiagrass, marshelder, blackberry, dewberry, henbit, sericea lespedeza, yucca, multiflora rose and more. Please see the product label for a full list of weeds and brush controlled.

Can livestock graze in areas where Cimarron Plus has been used?

There are no grazing or hay harvest restrictions for non-lactating or lactating livestock when Cimarron Plus herbicide is applied as directed to range, pasture, grass hay fields, CRP acres, and/or uncultivated areas are that are directly adjacent to, or which transect or pass through, treated areas. Grazing animals do not have to be moved off the area before, during, or after applying Cimarron Plus.

Can Cimarron Plus be used near bodies of water?

Do not apply Cimarron Plus herbicide directly to natural or man-made bodies of water such as lakes, reservoirs, ponds, streams and canals. It may be applied to intermittently flooded low lying sites, seasonally dry flood plains and transitional areas between upland and lowland sites when no water is present. It is also permissible to treat marshes, swamps and bogs after water has receded, as well as seasonally dry flood deltas.
