In 2015, Jefferson Parish Public Works of Louisiana was battling some persistent goosegrass in its common Bermudagrass road medians. Don Cole, Jefferson Parish horticulturist, decided to try Derigo®, a broad-spectrum, postemergence solution from Envu.
Cole applied Derigo to test medians in April at a 3 oz. per acre rate. In his tank-mix, he added imazapic and a non-ionic surfactant. Cole was surprised by how vibrant the grass looked after spraying. He saw results in as little as a week. He stated, “When you spray Derigo, it looks like you fertilized the grass. The healthier the grass, the fewer the weeds and more beautiful the roads.”
Due to the extensive weed control of Derigo, Cole was able to reduce the number of products included in his tank-mix, compared to the programs he had used previously.
Derigo, a versatile tool in the roadside vegetation management market, helps managers simplify their operation. According to Cole, Jefferson Parish has sprayed Derigo for its spring applications on the majority of its acres in April, and will do the same for its July applications.
