Esplanade Sure
Product Overview
Highly effective bareground control for sensitive sites.
Esplanade® Sure is an easy-to-use premix herbicide that manages difficult-to-control weeds in bareground sites, while lessening off-target risk in sensitive areas. It also provides preemergence and postemergence control in non-crop areas.
Key Benefits
Lowers the risk of injury to surrounding desirable vegetation
- Offers control of weeds that have germinated, but have not yet emerged; weeds that glyphosate may not control
- Delivers two modes of action to help manage herbicide resistance
- Low use rate, easy to transport and simple dry measurement
- Long residual for broadleaf weeds and grasses
- PPE requirements include long-sleeved shirt and long pants, shoes plus socks, and chemical-resistant gloves
- More consistent results and without yellow staining compared to DNA (dinitroaniline) herbicides
Use & Control
- Esplanade Sure is a water dispersible granule
- Can be used on bareground sites and selective areas
- Reduces the potential of causing off-target damage to desirable crops – active ingredients are registered for weed control in crops such as citrus, grapes, stone and pome fruits
- Rate range is 3.5 to 6 oz./A with an average rate of 4.5 oz./A. (Rate depends on weed spectrum and pressure, climate and historical herbicide use on the site.)
Weeds Controlled
Grasses: Annual ryegrass, crabgrass, fall panicum, foxtails, medusahead
Broadleaves: Common groundsel, kochia, mustard species, pigweeds, puncturevine, purslane, Russian thistle, sowthistle, yellow starthistle

FAQ
What is Esplanade Sure?
Esplanade Sure is a preemergence and postemergence herbicide that manages difficult-to-control bareground weeds in sensitive sights with reduced risk to surrounding desirable vegetation.
What are the active ingredients in Esplanade Sure herbicide?
Esplanade Sure is a water dispersible granule consisting of indaziflam (Group 29 Herbicide) and rimsulfuron (Group 2 Herbicide).
How does Esplanade Sure work?
Esplanade Sure herbicide controls weeds by two modes of action. Indaziflam inhibits cellulose biosynthesis in plants and rimsulfuron inhibits production of amino acids necessary for protein synthesis and plant growth.
Where can Esplanade Sure be applied?
Esplanade Sure herbicide can be used for residual control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in non-crop areas including railroads, roadsides, hardscapes, industrial areas, utilities, airports, government and military installations, tank farms, pumping stations, storage areas, railyards, utility substations, lumberyards, around farm buildings, non-irrigation ditch banks, fence rows, manufacturing sites, office buildings, educational facilities, parking lots, and under asphalt or concrete as part of site preparation.
Esplanade Sure may be used to release or re-establish desirable perennial grasses, forbs, shrubs and trees in non-crop areas including parks and open space, wildlife management areas, recreational areas, fire rehabilitation areas, prairies and fire breaks. Esplanade Sure may also be used for rangeland restoration west of the Mississippi River.
Does Esplanade Sure need to be watered in?
Best weed control is obtained when Esplanade Sure herbicide is applied to a dry or slightly moist soil surface. Allow 48 hours without rain or irrigation to bind herbicide to the soil, followed by a 0.25 to 0.5 inch of water within 21 days of application.
What grasses and broadleaf weeds does Esplanade Sure control?
Esplanade Sure herbicide controls the following key grasses and broadleaf weeds. See the product label for a complete list.
Grasses: Crabgrass, annual ryegrass, foxtails (giant, green, bristly), fall panicum, barnyardgrass, medusahead, ventenata, cheatgrass
Broadleaves: Common groundsel, puncturevine, pigweeds, spurge, sowthistle, chickweed, mustard species, purslane, yellow starthistle
